Wallr, an android wallpaper tool

I have just released an application which will easily change the wallpaper of android mobile phone. Users will have to define a location of the wallpaper that needs to be rotated.

On intial launch the application will check if the a directory named Wallpaper exists on the sd card, if not it will be created and some sample wallpapers will be downloaded.

Features:

• Change wallaper by clicking on Wallr icon (It is recommended to create a shortcut for this application on android home screen)
  
• Enable/Disable notification.
  
• Settings menu can be access by clicking wallr icon on notification bar.
  
• Option to enable/disable wallpaper width (this is required as some image with width less than 640px will look ungly when the screen is in landscape mode)

DhiSMS Application

It's been like a month since I started playing around with XUL, the XML User-interface Language. My aim is to make something useful using the Mozilla Application Development Framework. The XUL application will require mozilla's runtime "GRE" (Gecko Runtime Environment)

So far its been great, and I have developed the basic functionality for the my hello world application "DhiSMS". As it's name say's it's an application which will allow users to send sms using the username and password provided by Dhiraagu. It's still under development and I'm adding additional features to it like adding extensions.

Features Included in the initial release

• Basic SMS (basic sms functionality)
• Batch SMS (this will limit to 10 sms, as Dhiraagu only allows 10 sms per day)
• E-Directory Search (this will be release as an extension to the application)

Releasing this application to the public might take a while as I'm learning and developing.. I will announce a release date soon. Btw if you've got any ideas please let me know.

The Programmer's Nemesis

Greg writes on the perennial problem at the workplace named "interruptions." According to our friendly usability expert, it is a programmer's nemesis: one millisecond of interruption could disturb one's "flow," or nudge one out of his "zone."

Programmers produce their best code when they are in a 'zone' (others call it the 'flow'). During this stage, developers are fully concentrated in their work as if they are in their own universe. They lose track of time and forget that their last meal was 8 hours ago.

Red Hat to make Linux run on Intel macs

Red Hat representative Gillian Farquhar announced
last week that the company plans to add support for Apple's new Intel
Macs to its popular distribution. Fedora and several other commonly
used Linux distributions support the PowerPC architecture used by Apple
in the past, and Red Hat wants to ensure that its software will
continue to run on new Apple hardware in the future. The current
impediment is the Extensible Firmware Interface, a relatively new BIOS
replacement designed by Intel that is not yet commonly used or widely
supported.

Google Personalized Homepage for Mobile Users

I remember talking to wadde about this, when will google realized about the mobile users who would want to search mobile content from google and get results that are optimized for small screens. It seems they have answered my question by adding mobile search plus some more cool features that a mobile user would want from google.

Now we can use Google Personalized Home for Mobile in our little mobile browsers and use Gmail inbox to news headlines, weather, stock quotes, and feeds (Atom or RSS).
